So I'm planning to write some more on the world I've created with "Shades of Red" and thought I'd post a suggestion thread here for it. Of the characters in "Shades of Red," which would you guys like to see more stories of?
I'm planning on writing a lot more on the Scarlet Ranger, possibly a novel. I think I might have too much to tell about her to fit into more short stories.
Starburst, the naive celebrity rookie ?
Tenebrous, the brooding defender?
Asta, the android detective? (A cookie for anyone who can identify where his name comes from.)
I could also explore Kelly's on-again, off-again boyfriend, the Chicago Defender. Though he would, of course, feature predominantly in any novel I write about her.
I have plenty of other heroes waiting in the wings (such as Radio Gal and Astro Jack), but I thought I might develop these characters a bit more if anyone liked them. _________________ "He's thrown a kettle over a pub--what have you done?" |

I really liked Asta (good name, BTW -- I haven't seen the movies, but I like the nod), especially his "voice" and manner. I can't write mystery worth crap myself, but mystery with robots and superheroes? I'm all over that.

Very cool. I intentionally created Asta to be rather old (built in the late '30s, info trimmed from "Shades of Red") so that I could tell stories about him in any era. I have a few ideas for some noir-era mysteries for him. _________________ "He's thrown a kettle over a pub--what have you done?" |
