| “With great power comes great responsibility.” In a bleak, despairing city, Mike Edwards gladly accepts the full weight of his responsibility. But to whom? |

Paul McManus views the superhero experience through a gritty realistic prism. His characters are heroic, but they exist in a world very close to ours in which most people clearly do not understand why they care enough to help people.
Duty plays on themes that all of the great dark comic heroes have struggled with as they try to balance their obsession with their non-costumed lives.
Well done! I hope we will see more of Paul in A Thousand Faces. |

Tough choices. Hard decisions. Paul, you wrote them well in this one. The fleeting thoughts of home rang true, as did the desperation in the final moments of battle. You have crafted a tale of true responsibility as reflected in the need to defend those who cannot defend themselves - on both sides of the costume.
Thank you. |

I have to echo many of the comments above.
I loved the story and the effort to tackle the need to balance the hero's responsibility to the world and responsibility to his family, which is a highly underdeveloped concept in the world of superhero adventures. _________________ RaZ
