Johanna Draper-Carlson takes a look at Issue #2 over at Comics Worth Reading, spurred on by a conversation we had at the Baltimore Comic Con back in September. I would disagree with some of her individual story reviews, but hey, to each their own, right? She did recommend her readers to take a look, so that was good.
Check it out HERE. |

| She seems to have a predisposition against the format, so it doesn't surprise me that her review is at best lukewarm. Also, she appears not to have read what I believe to be the strongest entry in issue #2, Halloween In Herotown. |

That was a bit disappointing to this college exercise writer.
However, like was said above, she basically went in to it looking to dislike it. Actually most of her comentary clashes with her prestated like of comics, such as the unbelievability of how my story played out, even for superhero fiction....But she reads comic books!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even the positive response to Gil's Bills was interesting in light of her comics orientation. If she enjoys stories about young heroes trying to pay their bills, I would suggest that she check out a under-used comic book character known as Spiderman...
Oh well, you can't count on positive feedback all the time. Life goes on. _________________ RaZ

Agreed.
Of course, I picked all the stories, so what does that say about my taste? |

I do think it was funny that she essentially dismissed each story within one line or less. My first published story is critiqued as a "generic monologue." Yes, thank you, but did you like it? Criticism is in the eye of the critic, I guess, but this is a fledgling field. The future is upon us yet. _________________ Has no-one grasped the irony or the concept of the internet modem here? Then again, with the overall negative review, maybe that's a good thing. So what am I complaining about? _________________ More By Andrew Salmon
