Just finished this one, by Jeff Marriotte. I am familiar with his work on the Desperadoes mini-series (good reads, by the way, if you're into slightly supernatural Westerns), but haven't read any of his novels (he's written around 30).
This one was pretty good, mixing in a reasonably reasonable time travel plot (easier said than done, usually) with some DCU heroes I wasn't that familiar with, including Jonah Hex and a group of old Western heroes, and some of the denizens of the magical corner of the DCU (Phantom Stranger, Etrigan, etc).
The prose was much stronger than previous DCU novel efforts; you can tell the difference between Marriotte, an accomplished novelist, and the work of Devin Grayson and Denny O'Neill, who, despite their prose credits, have essentially made their bones writing comics. And there's a difference.
I'd recommend it. |
