So, the new Wolvie movie is out. Anyone seen it? (I probably won't get a chance for a few weeks -- hopefully it'll last that long, or I'll end up watching it the same way I did The Hulk: on a couch. It was Blu-Ray, on a pretty big TV, but still, no Surround Sound, no popcorn smell, no sticky stuff underfoot... I guess I'm a bit of a traditionalist.)

Oh, and no spoilers, please. Confused

Also, speaking of movies this summer, how does everyone here feel about The Transformers as superheroes? Are they superheroes? Do the movies fit with the concept of superheroes? Sure, they have comic books, but so does Star Wars, and I don't think anyone will argue much that Star Wars is a superhero flick -- even though some of the characters have "super" powers. (And not just the Jedi -- think about everyone's favourite Wookie, and his ability to rip people's arms off, or the golden robot that speaks every language ever known, or even the swashbuckling pseudo-anti-hero with his one-of-a-kind spaceship and ways with guns and women. Incidentally, how does one buckle a swash, anyway?)

There. That's it. Talk amongst yourselves, people. I'll moderate.

Wolverine is...not so great. Like most of the X-flicks, they crammed too much of the wrong stuff in there. And, it's odd, but I think Wolvie may have been turned into a bit of a Mary Sue in this. I'll need to think about it some more.

My wife enjoyed it initially as a shut-your-brain off action movie with a hot star, but I think after a few minutes she started to pick it apart as well. On the plus side, I think it's gotten her interested in reading Origin. Smile

On the plus side of it - Liev Schrieber makes a much more appealing Sabretooth than did Tyler Mane in the first X-film. Not so bestial, and infinitely more terrifying for his manner. Positively drips with restrained brutality.

My wife has only her experience with the first 3 X-films to go by, and she enjoyed it thoroughly. I was a little bummed that Gambit sounded like he lived down the road from me -- no Cajun accent at all. Sad. Still, it was fun to just go and get lost in it for a while.

Well, I saw it last week, and didn't hate it either. It was fun, although I'm not sure I liked what they did to Deadpool. I thought Ryan Reynolds made a GREAT Wade Wilson. I, too, found some holes in it, like why Zero didn't jump out of the chopper before it crashed. Overall, I liked it.

I am bugged that they made Sabretooth Wolvie's brother. I distinctly remember an issue of Wolverine where SHIELD does a genetic test of Wolverine and Sabretooth (Nick Fury doing the favour for his old friend Logan), after Sabretooth tried to convince Wolverine that he was Wolvie's father. The results were positively negative. (In other words, no relation.)

Hopefully, I haven't given anything away here, to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Razz
